Formula For Success Motorsport Day at Chivenor In Aid of Help for Heroes

Petroc is delighted to announce the inaugural Formula for Success Motorsport Day, which will take place on Sunday 23 May 2010 from 10am to 6pm, at RMB Chivenor near Barnstaple.  The event is being organised to raise funds for Help for Heroes and the Formula for Success project.
Formula for Success has been running at Petroc since August 2008 and has proved highly successful at engaging and motivating learners aged 16 to 19 on automotive courses. This is achieved through a programme of activities linked to the world of motorsport. It provides the learners with a regular sense of achievement related to motorsport in order to raise confidence and aspiration, improve their behaviour, attitude and commitment and encourage progression onto further training, apprenticeships and university, and ultimately into a positive career outcome.
"We have been fortunate enough to secure a small amount of local sponsorship but realise that to continue the project more long term, we need to raise more significant funds and hence the idea of a motorsport day was born!" said Louise Laing Motorsport Day Co-ordinator at Petroc.
"With the venue being the Royal Marine Base at Chivenor in Barnstaple, we felt we could use the opportunity to raise awareness of motorsport generally, provide the community with a fun, exciting and engaging event whilst raising funds not only for our own project to continue, but also for Help for Heroes which is particularly relevant at this time."
Among the events and attractions on Sunday will be:

The Bloodhound Project is the World Land Speed record attempt which is headed up by Sir Richard Noble.
